The Theatre Bizarre - My Personal Story
Silvestri Symbiosis:
The innovation of a Double-sided artwork that turns a simple two-dimensional drawing into a sculptural experience and ever changing evolving vision. As part of his creative process Tomas Silvestri has created the SILVESTRI SYMBIOSIS: endless works on paper, that are double-sided creating a rare and captivating form that presents a multidimensional experience for the viewer. This unique approach allows the viewer to have 2 works in one, and exemplifies the artist’s mastery over narrative, symbolism, and spatial perception, allowing for a dialogue that transcends conventional boundaries.
The brilliance of Silvestri’s Symbiosis works lie in its ability to embody duality and create a conversation between contrasting or complementary themes. It challenges the viewer to reconsider their approach to a piece, inviting them to physically move around it, engage from multiple perspectives, and discover a layered narrative. By crafting two surfaces of a single piece, the artist can explore binary concepts like life and death, light and dark, reality and illusion, or the conscious and subconscious, while also hinting at the interconnectedness of these seemingly opposing forces.
Moreover, double-sided artwork pushes the boundaries of traditional storytelling. It requires the artist to seamlessly weave visual elements, ensuring that each side stands strong on its own while simultaneously enriching the overall narrative. This duality reflects the complexities of existence, highlighting how no single perspective can capture the entirety of truth or reality.
The creation of double-sided pieces also speaks to the artist’s innovative spirit and technical prowess. In essence, double-sided artwork is a testament to the artist’s ambition to stretch beyond conventional norms and explore the realms of possibility. It embodies complexity, multiplicity, and narrative depth, positioning the artwork as an evolving experience—one that draws the viewer in to continuously explore, reflect, and discover. This form redefines art as not merely a static object to be viewed, but a dynamic journey through layers of meaning, pushing the observer to engage both mind and body in a search for understanding.
Silvestri Symbiosis: “Astro You Can Die:”
The inspired secondary work, titled Astro You Can Die, conveys a hauntingly surreal narrative that challenges the viewer to confront their perceptions of existence and mortality. The piece appears to explore the cosmic forces intertwined with the human condition, echoing themes of fate, transcendence, and perhaps the inevitability of death in the grand scope of the cosmos.
In the upper left corner, the central eye-like motif peers out from a veil of elongated lines, reminiscent of a cosmic observer or an ethereal entity watching over the scene. This eye, framed within a leaf-like or abstracted bird shape, might symbolize a guiding force or cosmic consciousness that sees beyond our physical reality. The descending lines could imply an outflow of energy or a descent into deeper, hidden realms—indicating the soul’s journey or a transition between states of being.
The piece’s right side features a figure with elongated, swirling lines that twist and stretch, representing the fluidity of the spiritual or astral body. This figure seems to be emerging from, or perhaps reaching into, an ethereal plane, grasping at intangible threads that connect the cosmos. Its head is abstracted, flowing and merging with its surroundings, emphasizing the interconnectedness of all things within this surreal tableau.
Beneath the central curve, delicate, branch-like markings with small eyes hint at a coded message or perhaps roots tying this celestial narrative to human understanding. These symbols might be a visual language representing life’s fragility and the delicate balance between awareness and oblivion.
The curved, almost womb-like enclosure framing these elements suggests a liminal space—a point of transition where the boundaries between life and death, physical and ethereal, become porous. The curvature feels like a passage or an echo of the cyclical nature of existence, where death and rebirth are inextricably linked.
The title, Astro You Can Die, adds a stark, poetic contrast to the delicate imagery. It evokes thoughts of the inevitability of death even within the cosmic realm—a reflection of our mortality despite the grandeur and infinity of the stars. It suggests that in the face of vast cosmic forces, human life remains transient and fleeting, yet paradoxically a vital part of the greater cosmic order.
Through this drawing, the artist once again demonstrates his capacity for evoking deep existential questions through deceptively simple lines and forms. The raw genius lies in the delicate tension between these elements: the serenity of the line work against the gravity of the subject, and the abstraction that coalesces into a haunting, unforgettable narrative.
