Welcome to The New 2026 Sculptural Works
In TREKCHO (2026), Tomasso Silvestri delivers a sculpture that is as disarming as it is monumental. TREKCHO, the latest creation by radical sculptor Tomasso Silvestri. Trekcho is poised to become a landmark in conceptual and metaphysical art practice.
Constructed from a full-scale human mannequin and embedded with over 400 industrial razor blades, Trekcho is a visual and psychic rupture. Twisting cables spill from the body like exposed nerve endings, entangling the figure in a system of chaos, memory, and electricity. Each blade is a silent scream, a meditative cut through the illusion of form, identity, and control.
Silvestri’s title references the Tibetan Dzogchen practice of “trekchö” (ཁྲེགས་ཆོད་), which translates as “cutting through”—a spiritual discipline of dissolving the ego and returning to primordial awareness. Yet this is no soft mysticism. In Silvestri’s hands, trekchö becomes a literal and violent excoriation. Aesthetic lineage can be traced to artists like Thomas Hirschhorn (notably his “Nail Sculpture”) and Gina Pane, but Silvestri’s voice is singular: urgent, alchemical, and rooted in the confrontation of internal war.
The work does not ask for admiration. It demands recognition—of suffering, of violence, of the tenderness that endures despite both. Viewers report feeling destabilized, awed, even physically uncomfortable in its presence. That is the point.
"Trekcho is about what remains when we strip away everything we use to survive. It is terrifying. And it is liberating."
– Tomssso Silvestri
With Silvestri’s continued exploration of the body as both temple and battlefield, Trekcho deepens his reputation as one of today’s most uncompromising sculptors. Following a succession of acclaimed works (Blood, Gebura Child, Lulu), this piece marks a new level of philosophical radicality and material confrontation.
